SHILLONG, Oct 28: A survey that aims to provide reliable annual estimates of children’s schooling status and basic learning levels will be conducted by Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2023, ‘Beyond basics’ in East Khasi Hills from October 30 to November 4.
According to the statement issued here, 95 students from Martin Luther Christian University will be trained at the university premises wherein they will conduct surveys in 60 sampled villages of East Khasi Hills.
ASER 2023 ‘Beyond Basics’ focuses on what India’s youth, aged 14-18, are currently doing, what they can do in terms of applied reading and math, and whether they are equipped with digital skills to support their future.
Focusing on three domains, ASER 2023 will include activity, ability and acquisition in the survey.
Earlier, the national workshop for ASER ‘Beyond Basics’ 2023 was conducted from August 18 to 25 in Jaipur and Rajasthan.
Around 100 ASER team members joined the workshop from 27 states and UTs across India.
The objective of ASER 2023 remains to generate reliable and easy to understand evidence at scale, so as to facilitate public conversation on issues that concern the entire country.
‘ASER has been conducted every year since 2005 in almost all rural districts of India and it is the largest citizen-led survey in India. It is also the only annual source of information on children’s learning outcomes available in India today’, the statement said.
