Cyclists excel at selection trials

Mawkyrwat, Oct 29: The eagerly anticipated 2023 All Meghalaya Cycling Selection Trials for the National Championships, organized by the Meghalaya Cycling Association (MCA) and graciously hosted by the Mawkyrwat District Cycling Association (MDCA), reached a triumphant conclusion, marking a significant milestone for the state’s cycling community.
The event showcased exceptional talent and determination, with riders vying for supremacy in various categories.
In the highly competitive XCO Elite Men (19 & Above) category, the top three positions were secured by accomplished athletes. Middlestar N. Marak displayed outstanding prowess and claimed the first position, closely followed by Alvindarison Wanniang in second place and Ialamjingshai Mylliem in third.
The XCO Junior Boys (17-18) division was no less intense, with young riders demonstrating exceptional skill and enthusiasm. Lambormi Phawa triumphed in this category, securing the coveted first place, while Laraikut Sana and Dalenmi Sana secured the second and third positions, respectively.
The XCO Youth Boys (Under 14) category witnessed a remarkable showcase of emerging talent. Kevin Lyngdoh emerged as the victor, displaying remarkable potential in the sport. Fabian Khyllait and Jingshaibor Thongni impressed the judges and secured the second and third spots.
In the XCO Women (Open Category) competition, Phyrnai Kyndait exhibited exceptional prowess, earning herself the top position in this fiercely contested category. Lawankordor Swer and Hakarupaia Dkhar secured second and third places, respectively, reflecting the depth of talent among the women competitors.
Adding an element of thrill to the event, the Downhill (Open Category) saw breathtaking performances from the riders. Arron Oniel Kharpuri clinched the first position, with Pynsngainborlang Lyngkhoi and Willbornson Wahlang taking the second and third spots, respectively.
The 2023 All Meghalaya Cycling Selection Trials for National Championships not only provided a platform for athletes to exhibit their cycling skills but also highlighted the dedication and passion within the state’s cycling community. The winners will now have the honor of representing Meghalaya at the National Championships, showcasing their talent on a broader stage.
The event was made possible by the combined efforts of the Meghalaya Cycling Association and the Mawkyrwat District Cycling Association, with the support of sponsors and enthusiasts.
