SHILLONG, Nov 1: Going above and beyond the call of duty, traffic police and Home Guards personnel on Wednesday filled up large potholes on the highway at Lumdiengjri with whatever resources they could manage.
The cops used rocks and sand to fill the potholes, which had started to pose risks to vehicles, especially two-wheelers.
The idea was appreciated by many, while amidst it all, the PWD (Roads) seemed to be in a deep slumber.
It may be mentioned that the important roads in the capital city had started deteriorating since this year’s rainy season. The PWD, however, was confident of repairing these roads as soon as the monsoon subsided.
The rainfall in the state is now almost none, but the PWD has so far not taken any step to repair the deteriorating roads and potholes developed on the main roads.
