State LP school teachers to get head allowance

SHILLONG: LP school teachers of the State of both Government and non Government Schools would now be entitled for head allowance at Rs 300 per month with effect from December 1, 2013 but no arrears will be demanded by the All Meghalaya Primary School Teachers’ Association (AMPSTA).

The decision to this effect was arrived at during the agreement signed by the Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Education, Prof RC Laloo and the leaders of AMPSTA on Monday.

Other matters decided in the agreement include advance higher qualification increment that will be implemented immediately. It was also decided that the Directorate of School Education and Literacy will circulate the orders to all the Sub-Divisional School Education Officers.

As per the agreement, CPF for the teachers will be implemented with effect from December 1, 2013, with equal contribution of 8 per cent by the teachers and the State Government.

Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity will be followed up as per rules and regulations and the final decision on the matter will be taken up in the next meeting to be held in the first week of December 2013.

It may be mentioned that the agreement materialized after the High Court of Meghalaya issued directives to the State Education department in favour of the petition on August 4, 2013.
