Sec 144: DC directs heavy vehicles to avoid Umiam bridge

SHILLONG, Nov 4: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner on Saturday has issued an order under section 144 CrPC prohibiting heavy vehicles exceeding the load of 15 MT from plying on the Umiam bridge.
According to the order, such vehicles should take the Shillong Bye Pass through Mawryngkneng.
“In view of the urgency of the situation, the order has been passed ex parte and it shall come into force with immediate effect and remain in force till further notice,” the DC’s order said.
