India-Malaysia satisfied with ‘Harimau Shakti’ exercise

SHILLONG, Nov 4: India and Malaysia have expressed their immense satisfaction at the conclusion of the major joint exercise ‘Harimau Shakti 2023’ between the armies of the two nations conducted at the Foreign Training Node Umroi Cantonment, here from October 23.
The major joint exercise will culminate on Sunday after 14 days of rigorous sessions.
The exercise was an intense joint training exercise with both the armies exhibiting their combat power and dominance while understanding nuances of fighting multi domain operations in sub conventional scenarios.
It provided opportunity to both the armed forces to train in sub conventional operations in joint environment under United Nations Charter.
The exercise was conducted in two phases, first phase of combat conditioning and tactical training and the second phase was of 48 hours validation of training received by both the armies during the conduct of exercise.
During the entire duration of exercise the Indian and Malaysian armed forces displayed the highest standards of professional conduct, tactical acumen and military discipline.
The exercise culminated with a grand closing ceremony wherein both the nations exchanged their cultural fervour to understand each other’s values and traditions.
A total of 120 personnel from the 6th Battalion of the Rajput Regiment of the Indian Army and the 5th Royal Battalion of the Malaysian Army participated.
The aim of the joint exercise was to acquaint both the forces with each other’s operating procedures in the back drop of sub conventional operations under UN mandate.
The joint exercise is conducted as part of military diplomacy between the Indian and Malaysian army alternatively in Malaysia and India respectively.
The exercise is conducted on a reciprocal basis and its first edition was conducted in 2019 in Malaysia.
The exercise was a great milestone in establishing the traditional bond of friendship between India and Malaysia and further strengthened the pledge of both the countries towards a peaceful world.
