Shillong, November 14: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) dealt another blow to terror operatives by attaching eight properties of two prominent Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) members.

As per IANS, the move is part of the ongoing investigation into the 2018 case surrounding the violent release of a Pakistan-based terrorist who had attacked a police party at a Srinagar hospital.

According to an NIA spokesperson, the attached properties include five belonging to Mohammad Shafi Wani and three to Mohd Tikka Khan, both residents of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama District. The NIA Special Court, Jammu, issued the recent orders for this attachment.

The case revolves around the killing of two Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel during the escort of LeT terrorist Naveed Jatt, also known as Abu Hanzla, to the SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for a medical examination on February 6, 2018. Jatt, a Pakistani-origin terrorist, was forcefully released in the attack orchestrated by the two accused, as directed by their Pakistan-based LeT Commanders. Jatt was later neutralized in a 2018 encounter with security forces.

The attached properties, identified as assets of LeT’s overground workers, include various plots of land, with Shafi’s residential house among them, as stated by the official. The two accused were apprehended on February 8, 2018, from their Pulwama residences, where they were found in possession of weapons. Charged by the NIA on August 3, 2018, they currently face trial under various sections of the IPC, UA(P)A, and Arms Act before the NIA Special Court in Jammu.
