Shillong, Nov 18: In a remarkable feat, three skilled mountain bikers from Meghalaya, namely Ridor Niangti, Aldon JC Shylla, and Lamphang Jyrwa, emerged victorious in the prestigious Mon-Duro 3.0, the world’s highest mountain biking race held in Arunachal Pradesh from November 9 to 14, 2023.

The Mon-Duro 3.0 race is renowned for its challenging trails and demanding terrain, attracting elite mountain bikers from around the globe.
The name ‘Mon-Duro’ is a combination of ‘Mon,’ representing the land of the Monpas, and ‘Duro,’ signifying the Enduro format of the MTB. Notably, Mon-Duro 3.0 is the first edition of the race after being officially declared a calendar event by the state government.
Mon-Duro Tawang, an annual Enduro Biking event held in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, takes place every November. The event provides riders with a unique experience of navigating virgin trails amidst Rhododendron trees and lush green meadows, each trail concealing a rich history from times gone by.This year’s Mon-Duro 3.0 race adopted the theme dedicated to the elusive Snow Leopard, also known as the ‘Ghost of the Mountains.’ The inclusion of such themes enhances the significance of the event and adds an extra layer of excitement for participants and spectators alike. The triumph of the Meghalayan bikers in this challenging race further solidifies their reputation on the international mountain biking stage.
