Demthring emerge champions

Jowai, Nov 18: Demthring Sports Club emerged victorious in the 11th Chatister Kharkongor Memorial Trophy, 1st Division Football Tournament, organized by the West Jaintia District Sports Association (WJDSA).
The final match took place on Saturday at Kiang Nangbah Stadium, Jowai, with Finely Pariat, the General Secretary of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, gracing the occasion as the chief guest.
The battle for victory was intense, and Demthring Sports Club made a decisive move in the second minute of the game through Maidong Mukhim, scoring a precise goal.
Responding to the conceded goal, Wahiajer Sports Club rallied, and on the 25th minute, Niwan-o Gatphoh accurately leveled the score with a well-placed goal.
As the match progressed into the second half, both teams displayed strategic prowess and physical endurance in an attempt to break the tie.
However, their efforts proved futile, leading to a stalemate.
The game was then extended to extra time, where Lounidajied Ryngkhlem secured the winning goal on the 104th minute, leaving the opponents from Wahiajer Sports Club in awe and Demthring SC jubilant.
Individual accolades were also distributed, with Fourme Dkhar of Demthring SC receiving the Best Goalkeeper award, Mukhla Evergreen by Nidaioh Dhar recognized as the Top Scorer with half a dozen goals, Babitlang Dkhar of Demthring named Man of the Match, and Dawanbiang Pasah of Nangbah Iawmusiang honored as the Player-of-the-Tournament.
Trophies and mementos were presented by the chief guest and members of the WJDSA, along with other distinguished guests.
