NIT confers 238 students on 10th Convocation Day

SHILLONG, Nov 18: Altogether 238 students were conferred degrees at NIT Shillong during the 10th Convocation ceremony of the institute held here on Saturday.
Of the 238 students who were conferred, 147 are BTech, 26 are MTech, 31 are MSc and 34 PhD.
President Gold Medal was given to Salik Ahmad, BTech, Department of Civil Engineering based on his overall performance in academic and co-curricular activities across all the programmes.
Gold medals were awarded to Akshat Choudhary (MTech), Prerana Bakli (MSc), and Deeshant Bhattacharjee (BTech) for best academic performance in the respective programmes.
The institute’s silver medals were awarded to the students for the best academic performance in the respective department and programmes.
The institute said that it was a proud moment for the graduating students, parents, faculty members, staff members and the administration of the institute. The convocation ceremony, started with the solemn academic procession and invocation song.
Director General of North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), Dr Arun Kumar Sarma was the chief guest.
