Shillong, November 19: As the Enforcement Directorate (ED) delves into the cash-for-job case in West Bengal, attention is now focused on irregularities in biometric attendance records and manual registers across various municipalities.

As per IANS, investigative sources reveal that individuals implicated in the cash-for-job scandal displayed significant irregularities in attendance and adherence to schedules.

ED sleuths are scrutinizing 10 municipalities in total, seeking detailed information on the biometric attendance records and manual attendance logs of their staff over the past few years.

Notably, a majority of these municipalities under ED scrutiny, including North Dum Dum, South Dum Dum, Kamarhati, and Barrackpore, are located in North 24 Parganas.

The central agency’s suspicions heightened during the investigation into the alleged connection between the arrested Minister Jyotipriya Mallick and irregularities in municipal recruitments, in addition to the ration distribution case.

The ED is studying the patterns of irregularities, considering the geographical locations of the municipalities and the specific time frames of the alleged misconduct.

The investigative pattern suggests that irregularities coincided with the period when Mallick, holding both ministerial and Trinamool Congress district president roles, had a prominent presence in North 24 Parganas.
