TURA, Nov 26: A social activist from Walbakgre locality in Tura has written to Meghalaya Chief minister Conrad Sangma urging him to look into various issues concerning the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tura Campus.
Cherian Momin in his memorandum addressed to the chief minister raised several issues including the recruitment to vacant post in the university.
Pointing out that recruitment to vacant posts were not being done as per the reservation policy in some cases, Momin urged that the reservation quota be strictly followed in all recruitments to give equal opportunities for all.
Recalling the recent recruitment notification issued by the university, Momin said that the notification lacked specification of posts separately for two campuses (Tura and Shillong).
Pointing out that the notification had raised apprehensions and concerns among the prospective candidates, Momin sought the scrapping of the same while at the same time requesting that a fresh one with more details on posts be re-issued.
Momin also sought that equal attention be given to the NEHU Tura Campus as its head office in Shillong. Pointing to the absence of basic facilities, Momin sought that it be equipped with basic emergency services and health care centre.
He also raised the need to recruit staff like pharmacist, lab technician, bus driver etc.
Momin in the memorandum also sought that the services of those contractual employees who have been working for 15-20 years, be acknowledged and their employment status be up-graded.
