Subroto Cup U-17 girls
SHILLONG: The Tyrsad Higher Secondary Schools girls team registered a hard-fought 3-2 victory against St Joseph of Tamil Nadu in the under-17 Subroto Cup football tournament in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Pynhun Shulet was the star of the show with a fine hat-trick that gave the Meghalaya team the victory in their first match of the event.
Trysad Hr Sec are representing Meghalaya in the national inter-school tournament.
They will next face a school from Maharashtra on Thursday.
The Maharashtra girls came through comfortably 4-0 against a school from Afghanistan on Wednesday.
In other girls matches, Rev Saiaithanga High School, Mizoram, thrashed TAFFS 7-0.
Assam beat IPSC 6-0, while Manipur overwhelmed Goa 7-0.
AP Sports School, Andhra Pradesh, defeated Fountainhead School, Gujarat, 14-0, according to the tournament’s official website.
Haryana beat NCC 2-0.
Meanwhile, in the U-17 boys competition, Government Model School, Chandigarh, sealed a berth in the quarterfinals with a thumping 5-0 victory over Indian School, Oman,.
The Chandigarh team, which has an all-win record in its pool matches, handed Oman their third successive defeat. (with PTI inputs)
