SHILLONG: There were discrepancies in the submission of the then SP of Jaintia Hills MK Singh on the nature of encounter with the jailbreak mastermind Fullmoon Dhar in Jaintia Hills in 2009.
While at one point of time, Singh told the Commission that he had to fire at Fullmoon in selfmdefence when he was confronted by Dhar face to face as mentioned in the inquiry report, at a later stage, Singh said, “Yes I had fired in self defence when he (Dhar) was running with his back almost turned and he was changing his position” .
The Commission in its report said that the SP shot Dhar since the latter was pointing the weapon towards him.
However, the police reports soon after the incident said that it was a police team led by the SP which had shot dead Dhar after the latter fired the first shot at them.
No evidence against Pala
Though the two captured under-trial prisoners, Synshorlang Thongni and Krawborlang Marbaniang revealed before the Commission that the slain mastermind of Shillong jail break, Fullmoon Dhar maintained connection with the Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha elections in 2009 Vincent H Pala, there was no evidence.
As per the Commission’s report, Tongni said that Fullmoon had conveyed to him that the Congress candidate used his manpower and force and that he also assured to help him if he won the election.
Krawborlang Marbaniang told the Commission that Fullmoon Dhar did not reveal the name of the Congress candidate.
