City hospital gets medical equipment worth Rs 37 lakh

SHILLONG, Nov 29: The KTIEW EMS Trust, London, donated essential medical equipment worth Rs 37 lakh to Dr H Gordon Roberts Hospital in Jaiaw, on Wednesday. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted by Michael Kharsyntiew, a founding member of the trust. Out of the total project cost, Rs 35 lakh was contributed by the Trust, with the remaining funds sourced from the Hospital General Fund.
The donated equipment, including a cardiac monitor, CTG Machine, Syringe infusion pump, Radiant warmer, Eclampsia Bed, and Diathermy Machine, aim to enhance maternal and women’s healthcare facilities in the labour room and OBGYN (or Obstetrics and gynaecology) OT.
During the occasion, Kharsyntiew expressed gratitude, highlighting the trust’s significant contributions and framing the gesture as an early Christmas gift for the women of the state.
Dr Mercy Shylla, a Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, provided insights into the project’s impact on patients and doctors.
The Medical Superintendent, Dr R Nongrum, delivered the welcome address, and the inauguration of the equipment followed suit. Tisralyne Reenbohn felicitated the chief guests, and the vote of thanks was extended by Dr E Blah.
