Shillong, Dec 5: In a thrilling finale at the MFA Turf, Polo, North-Eastern Region (NER) Shillong emerged victorious in the Powergrid Inter-Regional Football Tournament 2023, defeating Corporate Centre (CC) with a commanding 2-0 scoreline. Dao Wohni Sutnga and SP Zou were the goal-scorers who propelled NER Shillong to triumph.
The prize distribution ceremony added an extra layer of recognition to outstanding performances. Ashish Tamang from Eastern Region-II was honored as the Best Goalkeeper, showcasing exceptional skills under the posts. The individual accolades for the champion team included Zou receiving the Golden-Boot award, while Laldinpuia earned the prestigious Player-of-the-Tournament title.Distinguished personalities present on the final day included Upananda Kataki, Executive Director of Powergrid, SK Sharma, DGM at Corporate Centre, MK Baruah, Senior General Manager, Anjan Sanyal, SR GM (HR), and Cliff Nongrum from the Meghalaya Football Association. The event not only showcased sporting excellence but also celebrated the collective efforts and achievements of the participating teams in the Powergrid Inter-Regional Football Tournament 2023.
