SHILLONG, Dec 7: The Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Shillong on Thursday rejected the bail of noted city businessman, Suresh P Singh who was arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife, Poonam Singh.
Singh had moved the bail application on December 1. The Court had sought a report from the investigative officer and the case diary and fixed the hearing on Thursday.
The Court also remanded Singh to 14 days in judicial custody. He will again be produced before the Court on December 21.
The District and Sessions Court had earlier rejected Singh’s bail plea due to the seriousness of the offence since there was a danger to the life of the victim considering that she had been seriously injured.
The accused has been booked under Section 306 (punishments for attempt to murder) and Section 307 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the IPC.
On November 3, a local court had remanded Singh in 7-day judicial custody. The accused had moved a bail application on the day he was first produced in the local court after he surrendered at the Laban police station and was subsequently arrested.
