UDP women’s wing lashes out at Syiemlieh, resigns

SHILLONG: Unhappy with the statement of the Mawlai legislator Embhahlang Syiemlieh for terming the party workers and supporters as tenants, the women’s wing of the UDP Mawlai circle has resigned from the party.
“It is really unfortunate on the part of Syiemlieh to classify the party workers as tenants who came to the party to strengthen it,” the UDP women’s wing said in a statement here on Saturday.
They said that it is really shocking to see the legislator claiming that he owns the party but he should understand that he was elected to serve the public.
The UDP women’s wing of Mawlai circle also stated that the statement of Syiemlieh shows that he is a leader who is irresponsible and instead of controlling the situation he added more fuel to fire.
While hitting back against the legislator, the women’s wing leaders by terming him as the “bridegroom” who came from the KHNAM to marry the UDP only in 2009.
The UDP, Mawlai circle women’s wing leaders who quit the party are- M Kharkamni, president, R Marwein, Senior vice-president, B Lyngdoh, vice-president, RL Tham, general secretary, U Rumnong, chief organiser, B Marbaniang, sports secretary, R Kharpran, assistant sports secretary and B Nongkynrih.
It may be reminded leaders of the UDP Mawlai circle had also resigned from the party on October 8.
These leaders include- RK Basaiawmoit, B Mylliemngap, E Wahlang, M Lyngdoh, ER War, AN Lyngdoh and B Nongbri.
