SHILLONG: Taking note of the State Government’s adamant attitude over the implementation of the ILP, the KHNAM is now set to approach the people to create awareness on ILP.

“It is only a movement of the people that can compel the Government to implement the ILP. I feel that it is only the people’s power can make this government come to its senses,” KHNAM working president Adelbert Nongrum said in a statement on Monday.

Nongrum also warned that the manner in which the present government is treating the people would someday result in a ‘revolution’.

Lauding the role played by the opposition legislators on the issue of ILP in the autumn session of the Assembly, Nongrum said, “Through unity we will achieve our goal.”

He also denounced the large-scale deployment of police commandos and central security forces in the city during the Durga Puja festival.

“These forces should rather be deployed in the border areas to protect the people,” Nongrum said.

Meanwhile, the KHNAM constituted its youth wing on Monday with Lurshai Lyngwa as president, F Marpna as working president, Mangkara Ryndem and Pulbert Thabah as vice-presidents and Strong Kharjana as general secretary, besides others.
