SHILLONG: In a tragic incident, a one-year-and-9-month-old baby died when the house he was in caught fire at Pingwait village under Mawkynrew block, Mawsynram on Wednesday.
At the time of the incident, which took place around 4-30pm, the mother of the ill-fated baby was away fetching water.
According to police, the house of Ihir Nongrum caught fire while she was out fetching water leaving a 7-year-old daughter Batihun Nongrum and the baby Mebankitkhia Nongrum at home.
