ST journalist breathes his last

SHILLONG, Dec 22: The Shillong Times correspondent for West Khasi Hills and Eastern West Khasi Hills districts, Ronaldstone Syiem breathed his last on Friday at a private hospital. He was 37.
He leaves behind his wife, Ba-ailang Lyngdoh Nonglait, and their only son, Lathan Lyngdoh Nonglait.
During his 15-year stint as a journalist, he was also associated with All India Radio (AIR), Shillong, and Guwahati-based, North East Live. Previously, he was also associated with the Khasi daily Kynjatshai.
His mortal remains will be laid to rest at the Nongpyndeng Presbyterian Church cemetery at 2.30 pm on Sunday.
The Journalist Association of West Khasi Hills condoled the sudden demise of one of its senior members.
“It is a huge loss for the journalist fraternity of the district,” the association said.
The Shillong Press Club also condole the untimely death of one of its senior members.
“In his sudden departure, Ronald has left a vacuum amongst us, especially amongst our comrades in the West Khasi Hills region whom he has guided and handheld over the years cheerfully,” SPC president, David Laitphlang said.
“May God grant him eternal rest in his rightful place with his Creator and may God Almighty grant solace to all the bereaved loved ones in this hour of extreme grief and pain,” Laitphlang said.
