BJP’s LS polls roadmap clearer, says party chief

SHILLONG, Dec 23: The State BJP, which has long been silence on the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, now seems to have a roadmap following the meeting of BJP national office-bearers in New Delhi. Regardless, there was no word on the party’s candidates for the two seats — Shillong and Tura.
Speaking to The Shillong Times over the phone, State BJP president Rikman G Momin said that ample discussion was held in Delhi insofar as Lok Sabha polls are concerned.
According to him, the State BJP now has a clearer road and vision for the upcoming parliamentarian polls in the state.
Asked if the party will now make a push for the candidates, Momin replied in the affirmative but, however, said that details will be disclosed later.
The BJP national office-bearers’ meeting was called to take a stock of the party’s preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024 and chalk out a strategy for other upcoming programmes of the party.
Earlier, the State BJP chief felicitated Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an inaugural session of the two-day BJP national office-bearers and state presidents’ meeting.
PM Modi on Saturday inaugurated the meeting in the presence of BJP national president JP Nadda.
“The State BJP is elated that a lot of the issues concerning the people of Meghalaya in particular, and the state as a whole, were discussed at the highest level in Delhi preceding the Christmas and New Year celebrations, which definitely augurs well for the coming year,” the BJP said in a statement.
