HILLONG: The HNYF has slammed the State Government for relaxing the provisions of the law to allow the ICARE to organise a public meeting at Khyndai Lad on Monday.

“It is really shocking that the East Khasi Hills district administration issued a court notice against CSWO and KWADDA for violation of Section 144 CrPC even when they were holding a peaceful protest. But the district administration did not enforce the same when it came to ICARE’s meeting since it was a pro-Government organisation,” HNYF vice president S Kharbuli said in a statement issued here on Monday.

He said that the public meeting was specifically organised to make fun of the demand for the implementation of ILP.
