BSF foils smuggling bid; 1 B’deshi among three held

SHILLONG, Dec 24: Vigilant troops of BSF Meghalaya intercepted a pick-up truck loaded with sugar meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh, and apprehended one Bangladeshi and three Indian nationals near Rongra bordering area under South Garo Hills.
Acting on specific info, 1st battalion BSF troops identified a suspicious pick-up truck on a hill road approaching from Rongra side.
The intercepted vehicle was loaded with the consignment of sugar with four occupants. Upon questioning, the occupants provided unsatisfactory responses and failed to produce valid documents pertaining to the consignment.
Further investigation revealed that one of the occupants was identified as Mohammed Shamim, a Bangladeshi national of Gobindpur, Netrakona district in Bangladesh.
The other three individuals were identified as Amorjit Hajong from Arapara, Baghmara, South Garo Hills, Engling Sangma from Sanbana, Rongra, South Garo Hills, and Ramakey R Mark from Arapara, Baghmara, South Garo Hills.
All apprehended individuals, along with the seized items, were handed over to Rongra Police Station for further legal action.
