Speculations of BJP move run rife

SHILLONG, Dec 27: One of the cops who is sensational on social media sensations in the Northeast, Anand Mishra, who had also served in Meghalaya for as long as five years, resigned from the Indian Public Service (IPS) even as speculation ran rife about him joining the BJP soon.
Mishra, an IPS officer from Assam- Meghalaya cadre batch of 2011, began his police career in Meghalaya.
He, however, shocked everyone on Tuesday when he tendered his resigntion.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Mishra maintained that nothing has been decided insofar as beginning political innings is concerned. There is however rumours doing the rounds that he may contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from BJP in Bihar. “Let us see. I am a social person and I cannot decide anything alone,” he said, while adding that his idea is to give his best services in the public interest. He also said that his whole idea is to make people’s lives better in whatever way he can.
Mishra, who was serving as the Superintendent of Police of Lakhimpur district in Assam, tendered his resignation through a formal letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Assam.
It may be mentioned that Mishra first joined the IPS rank as additional Superintendent of Police in Shillong when he was under training.
Later, he spent most of his policing roles in the jungles of Garo Hills countering insurgency as he was the operational commander of ‘Operation Hill Storm’.
The young officer, who earned the nickname of Bollywood hero ‘Singham’, is also a popular face on social media through his YouTube channel called ‘Patroller’ where he shows how his team patrols different areas of Assam. An avid bike rider, Mishra has also uploaded videos of his bike rides.
People in Assam have even cried when Mishra was transferred from one to district to another, such was his popularity.
