SHILLONG, Dec 27: After all the exciting Christmas celebrations in Shillong, the New Year’s Eve in Shillong will perhaps be a quiet affair as there is no word from the state government yet on whether or not there will be an official programme to welcome the year 2024.
However, a two-day musical event will be held at Polo Grounds beginning December 30, which features well-known international artiste, Sean Kingston.
Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh said a lot of private parties will organise events on New Year’s Eve, which is why there will be no official programme for the day.
On the first day of the event, all artistes who missed out on their chance to shine at the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival will enthrall the crowd at Polo Grounds. Many local talents will also share the stage that day.
On Day 2, there will be other musical programmes at the venue including the highlight of the day, the performance of Sean Kingston.
Meanwhile, as has been customary, the 26th Midnight Swim will be organised at Crinoline swimming pool in Barik here on December 31 to welcome the new year. It will be organized by Forever Young. The pool will be filled with seven tonne of ice blocks.
