Local talents shine in WJD table tennis tournament 2023

Jowai, Dec 29: The West Jaintia District Table Tennis Association (WJDTTA) orchestrated a vibrant One Day Open Tournament 2023 on Friday at the Kiang Nangbah Indoor Stadium Dongmihsngi, Jowai.
Drawing in 32 participants from diverse corners of the district, the tournament showcased skillful performances and fierce competition.
The tournament featured three categories, namely Under-16 boys’ singles, Men’s singles, and Men’s doubles.
In the thrilling Under-16 boys’ singles final, Corban D Khonglah emerged victorious, securing a hard-fought win against Kermi W Lywait with a scoreline of 11-5, 9-11, 9-11, 11-6, and 11-8.
The Men’s doubles category witnessed a stellar performance by Eraphael Dkhar and Deonicious Chullai, who clinched victory by defeating Rabin Passah and Muni Kynjin with a commanding score of 11-4, 11-9, 11-9, and 11-5.
In the Men’s singles, Eraphael Dkhar showcased his prowess by defeating Deonicious Chullai with a scoreline of 11-6, 11-8, 11-9, and 11-7.The winners were duly recognized as the WJDTTA official presented them with trophies and certificates, marking the culmination of a day filled with intense competition and sporting camaraderie.As the echoes of thrilling rallies and competitive spirit subside, the West Jaintia District Table Tennis Open Tournament 2023 in Jowai stands as a testament to the passion and skill exhibited by the participating athletes. With Corban D Khonglah’s impressive victory in the Under 16 boys’ singles, and Eraphael Dkhar and Deonicious Chullai’s triumph in Men’s doubles, the tournament showcased the talent that resides within the district.
