Major collision leads to traffic congestion on NH-6

Nongpoh, Jan 2: A major collision involving two trucks on National Highway-6 near Shangbangla on Monday evening resulted in significant disruptions to traffic.
The incident was caused by a truck registered as AS01 JC3752, loaded with cement traveling from Shillong to Guwahati.
The reckless driving and over-speeding of the said truck led to a collision with another truck bearing registration number AS01 PC2015, coming from the opposite direction.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck with registration AS01 JC3752 recklessly crossed into the oncoming lane, colliding forcefully with the AS01 PC2015 truck.
The impact was so severe that the second truck capsized in the middle of the road.
In the aftermath of the accident, the lane from Guwahati towards Shillong was completely blocked.
Traffic authorities swiftly intervened, diverting all vehicles to the alternate lane to maintain the flow of traffic.
Meanwhile, the driver of the over-speeding truck, AS01 JC3752, fled the scene, leaving behind a chaotic situation.
The injured driver of the capsized truck was taken to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for medical treatment.
Ri Bhoi Police has initiated an investigation into the incident and is working to apprehend the driver of the over-speeding truck who fled from the scene.
