Super Challengers, Elite XI secure victories

Shillong, Jan 7: The Shillong Cricket League 3rd Division 2024 witnessed two gripping matches that kept cricket enthusiasts on the edge of their seats on Sunday. In the first match, Youth Star CC faced off against Super Challengers CC in a clash that showcased intense competition.
Super Challengers CC, winning the toss, opted to bowl first. In the 1st innings, Youth Star CC posted a score of 135/10 wickets in 19.1 overs. Notable performances came from batsmen Pranjal Dey, who scored 52 runs in 45 balls, and Prantik Dey, adding 21 runs in 21 balls. The bowling brilliance of Biplove Bhowmick was evident as he bowled 3.1 overs, conceding only 4 runs while claiming an impressive 4 wickets. Saurav Dey also made a significant impact, bowling 4 overs, giving away 37 runs, and securing 3 crucial wickets.
Super Challengers CC, in reply, scored 136/9 wickets in 18.1 overs. Kerlang Nongrum played a stunning innings, scoring 42 runs in just 19 balls, while Gaurav Dey contributed 25 runs in 25 balls. Pranjal Dey and Sagar Choudhary led the bowling attack for Youth Star CC, with Pranjal Dey delivering a commendable performance, bowling 4 overs, conceding 15 runs, and claiming 2 wickets, while Sagar Choudhary bowled 4 overs, giving away 17 runs and taking 2 wickets. Super Challengers CC emerged victorious by just one wicket, with Biplove Bhowmick named the Player of the Match for his crucial 4-wicket haul.
In the second match, Elite XI took on LMYA in a contest that proved equally enthralling. LMYA won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a competitive total of 173/3 wickets in 20 overs. Aditya Choudhary shone with the bat, scoring 63 runs in 52 balls, while Saurab Deb added 58 runs in 45 balls. The bowling efforts of Kunal Dey and Manish Joshi for Elite XI were noteworthy, with Kunal Dey bowling 4 overs, giving away 28 runs, and taking 1 wicket, and Manish Joshi bowling 4 overs, conceding 43 runs while securing 1 wicket.
In response, Elite XI chased down the target, scoring 175/8 wickets in 19 overs. Arup Das played a pivotal role with the bat, scoring 55 runs in 41 balls, and Jayanta Dey contributed 34 runs in 13 balls. Mohit Sethi and Sagar Sharma were instrumental in the bowling department for Elite XI, with Mohit Sethi delivering 4 overs, giving away 26 runs and taking 2 wickets, and Sagar Sharma bowling 4 overs, conceding 30 runs while claiming 2 wickets. Elite XI emerged victorious by 2 wickets, and Arup Das was named the Player of the Match for his impressive knock of 55 runs. Both matches showcased the competitive spirit and talent in the Shillong Cricket League’s 3rd Division.
