SHILLONG: The prolonged bandh in the neighbouring Goalpara district in Assam has affected the supply of essential commodities to Garo Hills.

No truck carrying diesel, petrol and essential commodities is coming due to the ongoing unrest in Golapara, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi said over phone from Tura on Thursday.

“I would have a talk with the various Deputy Commissioners of Garo Hills to know the present stock position,” Commissioner Divisions (Garo Hills) PW Ingty said here on Thursday.

He also assured that the Government would take possible measures to ensure there is no breakdown of the essential services.
