Guwahati, Jan 10: Over 29 lakh people have availed the benefits of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) in Assam, which is currently underway in 16 districts of the state.

Chairing a meeting with all district commissioners and senior officers on the progress of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Assam on Wednesday, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that 29,94,981 people in 35 districts of the state have been benefitted by the Yatra till January 9, 2024.

Of the beneficiaries, 5,28,120 persons have availed health services in camps; 4,15,434 people have been screened for tuberculosis; 64,309 persons have been screened for sickle cell anaemia; 60,237 persons have been provided Ayushman Bharat cards while 33,293 persons have been registered under PM Ujjwala Yojana.

Notably, VBSY is a nationwide campaign conceptualised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to raise awareness through outreach activities to achieve saturation of central schemes across the country, covering all gaon panchayats, nagar panchayats and urban local bodies.

“Today, I chaired a meeting with all district commissioners and senior officers on the progress of VBSY in Assam. We are happy to share that over 29 lakh people have availed the benefits of this Yatra, which is still ongoing in 16 districts. Our endeavour is to ensure complete saturation of all welfare schemes led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” the chief minister said on his official microblogging site, X (formerly Twitter).
