Shillong, Jan 12: Meghalaya has achieved an outstanding feat, showcasing the remarkable talent and dedication of its karatekas and coaches. The state emerged as the overall team champions, securing an impressive total of 109 medals, including 45 gold, 37 silver, and 27 bronze, at the Kanninjuku Training Camp-cum-National Shoto Cup Karate Championship 2023.
The All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association proudly dispatched a delegation of 57 karatekas, led by Donboklang Lyngdoh, Arjun Sewa, and Greater EM Kharpuri, to participate in the championship held from December 29 to 31, 2023, in Khandala, Maharashtra.
Every single one of the 57 state karatekas demonstrated their prowess by clinching at least one medal each. Notably, Gideon Tympuin, Paul Danny Kharmudai, and Glikerius Buhphang stood out by securing three gold medals each, contributing significantly to Meghalaya’s remarkable success at the competition.
