Man who introduced Cherry Blossom fest gets green award

NEW DELHI, Jan 14: Prof (Dr) Dinabandhu Sahoo, Director of Centre for Himalayan Studies, University of Delhi, who first introduced famous Cherry Blossom Festival in Northeast starting with Meghalaya was conferred with India Green Awards by Progression Global, honour for his outstanding contributions to environmental conservation and sustainability practices in India.
Progression Global is a leading organisation advocating stewardship and sustainability.
The India Green Award is one such sustainability award in India that brings together individuals, organisations, and communities dedicated to fostering a greener, more sustainable future.
Highlighting exceptional initiatives, the event recognised exemplary achievements that have significantly contributed to environmental protection across various sectors.
The other prominent award winners included Tata Projects Ltd, L&T Heavy Civil, Jindal Stainless Steel, Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, Bangalore Metro Rail, Synergy Steels Ltd, Dr Sanjukta Sahoo-KIIT Bhubaneswar and Dr Chetan Singh Solanki of Energy Swaraj Yatra.
Dr Sahoo was Scientific Adviser to Chief Minister of Meghalaya and former Director of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD). Former Union Minister Dr Suresh Prabhu addressed the award function held on January 11.
