SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Citizens Forum on Monday clarified that there were rumors doing the rounds that the CSWO(Irene) along with the business community of Shillong have called a bandh for 12 hours on Monday.
“In this context, we would like to make it clear that we have not called  any bandh, nor do we support the bandh”, the Forum said.
The Forum further added that tribute to the late trader was paid as a mark of respect to the departed soul and show solidarity to the family.
According to the Forum, it was an open platform where all were welcomed, and any views expressed by any individual were in his or her personal capacity and the Forum did not subscribe to the views expressed.
The Headman of Police Bazar SL Singhania also said that he does not subscribe to the call of shutter down by certain organizations, which according to him is their own point of view.
In a statement issued here on Saturday, Singhania said that the brutal act of the miscreants has seen the tragic end of an innocent soul.
“The candle light programme has shown the total solidarity of the people of Shillong from all walks of life irrespective of caste, creed and religion and their anguish over  the nefarious designs of the evil doers”, he added.
According to Singhania, the unity of the people of Shillong should send a warning signal to the miscreants, who are all out to disturb the peace and communal harmony in Shillong.
