SHILLONG, Jan 17: The State BJP is prepared to bring up unresolved matters such as the implementation of the ILP provided the party is able to get an audience with Union Minister Amit Shah during his two-day visit to the city.
Shah is anticipated to arrive in the city at around 3 pm on Thursday. He will serve as the NEC plenary chair on Friday.
BJP spokesperson Mariahom Kharkrang stated on Wednesday, “Our minister (AL Hek) is seeking an appointment and we will definitely take up some issues which have been pending for quite some time. We hope that we get the appointment.”
When asked which issue the party would bring up for discussion with the Union Home Minister, he responded, “ILP is one of the issues that we are taking up and the other issues we will be discussing later in the party office.”
Traffic arrangements
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner issued an order on Wednesday declaring the State Convention Centre and the Headquarter of Director General of the Assam Rifles (DGAR), Laitkor as “no flying zone” during the visit of the Union Home Minister.
As per the order, operation of drones for photography or any other purposes has been prohibited in the two locations on January 18 and 19.
Additionally, in view of the movement of the VVIP, certain traffic regulations have been implemented along the route to be taken by the Home minister. Vehicular traffic will be stopped at various places of the city and on the route to be taken by the VVIP where only one-way vehicular traffic will be allowed to ply during the movement of the VVIP.
The traffic department has urged vehicles to refrain from overtaking and to maintain lane driving.
However, emergency service vehicles will be allowed to ply as usual.
