SHILLONG: The leaders of the various pressure groups agitating for introduction inner line permit (ILP) system in the State to regulate entry of outsiders into the state have expressed their willingness to sit for dialogue provided government agrees to talk on ILP only.

“If the state government invites us, we will accept the offer but the talks should revolve around implementation of ILP,” FKJGP president Joe Marwein said on Sunday.

Commenting on the proposed Tenancy Bill, Marwein said that the same was totally different from ILP as it evolves around the verification of the documents presented by a tenant.

“This Tenancy Bill will not address the problem of influx as it does not mention anything about curbing the entry of migrants into the state,” he said.

Echoing a similar view, KSU vice-president, F Kharmawphlang said that the proposed Act was not even welcomed by several dorbar shnong.

“But the State government still wants to go ahead with this Act which only implies that Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma is trying to impose his government’s decision on people against their wishes,” he said while terming Dr Sangma as “no less then ‘Sadam’ or ‘Gadafi’, the tyrannical dictators who listened to nobody.”
