SHILLONG: The newly-formed militant outfit Achik National Liberation Army (ANLA) has asked the truckers to stick to carrying nine metric tons of coal instead of carrying excess coal which is the current trend in Garo Hills.
Mikkim Achik, the selfstyled chairman of ANLA in a statement issued here on Sunday said that though Government had put load restriction of 9 metric tons, the truckers continue to violate the rules.
The militant outfit also wanted the truckers to modify their trucks to carry nine metric tons of coal by November 15. The outfit threatened action against the truckers if they do not follow the rules.
ANLA asserted that all the coal traders should follow the order of Supreme Court made in 2003 regarding the restriction on load in trucks. “We want to regulate the load for the betterment of NH-62”, he said.
