SHILLONG, Jan 22: Hindu devotees in Meghalaya celebrated the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on Monday with lights, crackers, sweets, and greetings in an atmosphere resembling Diwali.
Just by observing the people walking down the street in their elegant attire, carrying ceremonial objects, and flying the flag from their cars, one could determine the level of enthusiasm.
Devotees flocked to the state’s temples in large numbers to offer prayers on this auspicious occasion, making them busy places to be.
In the majority of the Temples, one could frequently witness hymn chanting, devotional song singing, and puja ceremonies.
The celebrations continued in the evening as lights and crackers added more colour to the festive spirit.
As previously announced, the Central Puja Committee (CPC) convened at the Wahumkhrah river immersion ghat to mark the event.
At the immersion ghat, people from the general public as well as a number of Hindu committees and associations lit earthen lamps to commemorate the Ram Mandir’s consecration.
