SHILLONG: Former Rajya Sabha member OL Nongtdu, who is suffering from kidney ailment, has been referred to Vellore on Wednesday after the initial treatment at NEIGRIHMS.

Sources said that Nongtdu was first admitted at ICU in NEIGRIHMS and when his condition improved he was shifted to a cabin. He was discharged on Tuesday to undergo further treatment at Vellore.

The Congress leader is one of the aspirants for the party ticket to contest the Shillong seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls scheduled to be held early next year. Other aspirants are sitting MP Vincent Pala, John Kharshiing and Charles Pyngrope.
