SHILLONG: A day after electronic gadgets went missing from the Additional Secretariat, the State government has decided to revamp the security of the power house besides ordering an inquiry into the case.

A computer was stolen from the chamber of Parliamentary Secretary, Rophul S Marak, in the Additional Secretariat here on Tuesday morning.

A peon of the office informed about the missing of the computer around 12.30 pm.

Speaking to The Shillong Times here on Wednesday, SAD minister Deborah Marak said the department would conduct an inquiry to find out if there was any security lapse.

Miffed over the incident, the minister said the department would review the security of the Secretariat and even go for installation of CCTV cameras.

“Further strengthening of security is required and we must ensure that every corridor and every floor must be guarded by police,” she said adding “I have asked SP to take the matter seriously.”

Police are yet to ascertain whether the gadgets were stolen by outsider or by people from inside.

“A clear picture will emerge once the department completes the inquiry,” she said.
