SHILLONG, Feb 4: In a bid to improve the vote share in Shillong, the State BJP has formed the ‘Shillong district’ unit with a target of securing one lakh votes from the city for the party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The new party unit was formed under the leadership of BJP Spokesperson Mariahom Kharkhang.
State BJP secretary and party’s strategist from South Shillong, Bipen Pradhan, was made the in-charge of the new party unit.
During the programme, newly appointed office-bearers were felicitated by State BJP president Rikman G Momin, who set the target of one lakh votes from Shillong city for the party. (Contd on P-4)

(Contd from P-3) The party is certain of a positive outcome with comprehensive plans and objectives having been discussed with various leaders who attended the party meeting.
Pradhan and other prominent faces in the party will be touring all constituencies within Shillong from the first week of February.
BJP’s Shillong district unit president, Bipen Pradhan, said, “If the MP from Meghalaya is from BJP, then it will be easy for us to take up any local issue of the state including the grievances of the church leaders.”
