NONGPOH, Feb 5: The prolonged delay in announcing the results of various posts under the District Selection Committee (DSC) of Ri-Bhoi has evoked concern from the Ri-Bhoi Peoples’ Council (RBPC) and the Meghalaya Peoples Social Organisation (MPSO).
The examination for these posts took place in 2021-2022 prompting the organisations to seek the intervention of Ri-Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, Arpit Upadhyaya.
RBPC president Jason Lennox Nongrum led a delegation which met the DC to address the issue and handed over a petition seeking his intervention to expedite the announcement of the results. The delay has left hundreds of applicants frustrated.
Nongrum, speaking to the media after the meeting, highlighted that despite the advertisement pertaining to more than 140 vacancies and the completion of the examination in 2021-2022, the results are yet to be declared by the district administration.
According to Nongrum, the DC conveyed during the meeting that he has fulfilled his responsibilities, but the delay is attributed to the line departments. These departments have not submitted the roster system to the concerned authority, causing a significant setback in the result declaration process.
Expressing the RBPC’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the aggrieved job applicants, Nongrum suggested that DC, as the Chairman of the DSC, should issue a formal explanation to the people of the district regarding the delay.
He emphasised the importance of providing a timeframe for result declaration to bring clarity to the anxious job seekers.
Furthermore, Nongrum urged the line departments to expedite the submission of the roster system within the month of February this year.
In a stern warning, Nongrum conveyed that if the district administration fails to declare the results by the first week of March this year, the RBPC would have no option but to initiate a protest and take necessary actions in the interest of the job applicants in the district.
