Newborn’s body found with name tag

SHILLONG: Mystery surrounds the recovery of the body of a newborn (female) with a name tag on her wrist. The body was recovered on Saturday from Umshyrpi river.

According to police, the body of new born the name tag — Shila Singh — tied on her wrist was recovered from Umshyrpi river under Jhalupara outpost.

It is yet to be known why the name tag was put on the baby by the person who has abandoned her.

Police are also clueless on why a mother should write the name of the baby on her wrist which, according to them can be symbolic. No one has registered FIR with the police in this regard.
