The green takeover in Shillong
Green has triumphantly taken over the cityscape! In winters?
This vibrant change isn’t courtesy of Mother Nature’s tender touch; instead, it’s the consequence of a peculiar coverage phenomenon.

In a peculiar nod to seasonal aesthetics, Shillong recently witnessed an outbreak of green coverings sprawled across its less picturesque corners. The timing couldn’t be more impeccable, as this invasion coincided with the International Water Conclave which saw national and international delegates thronging the city.
Not to be outdone by past endeavours, the temporary green takeover is a sequel to the previous “blue cloth” saga, which took over the footpaths near Civil Hospital during the esteemed visit of the First Citizen of India.
Only difference being, this time, the green swathes strategically extended their reach to accommodate the prestigious venue – Marriott. From the humble garbage pile outside Muda to the bustling vendors near Police reserve, no corner was spared.
Is this the city’s subtle attempt at covering up the not so picturesque locations , or simply a case of seasonal whimsy gone awry? Only time will tell.
