SHILLONG: The Opposition UDP has asked Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma to shed his ego and come clean to the negotiating table to end the current impasse over ILP.
“The UDP firmly believes that for return of normalcy in tune with the message of the President of India, the Chief Minister should shed his ego and come clean to the negotiating table”, the UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh said on Sunday.
The UDP leader also reiterated that there is enough ground for both the Chief Minister and the NGOs to “The State Government and the agitating groups can come for negotiation without any pre-condition to discuss the current issue and find solution as there is still ground for talks,” Lyngdoh said.
“The stalemate cannot go on and issue needs to be resolved at the earliest,” he said.
Asked whether the UDP would like to play the role of a negotiator, the former KSU chief said, “We have not thought about it. Government has branded us as instigator of the current situation and how can we be a negotiator.”
