SHILLONG: The City police on Sunday arrested one Armister alias Emunister Kharsati of Mawmluh Smit (Mawber) for his alleged involvement in the August 16 witchcraft case at Smit village in which three persons were hacked to death. He has been remanded to five-day police custody for further interrogation. Police had earlier arrested twelve persons, including three women, for their involvement in the murder cases and had registered two cases under the IPC relating to murder, pelting of stones, injury to police personnel and damage to government and public vehicles. However, last month, a local court released eight persons on bail.
