Govt has once again let down State Police: Paul

SHILLONG: Governor Dr KK Paul on Tuesday condemned the brutal killing of five police personnel in South Garo Hills.

Warjri informed that Parliamentary Secretary in charge Home, Winnerson D Sangma, and the Meghalaya DGP are already on their way to Garo Hills to take stock and to monitor the situation.

UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh termed the killing as another blow to the morale of the State Police which has suffered numerous loses in the past six months.

Lyngdoh said that this incident show the complete breakdown of the law and order in Garo Hills region.

He stated that the Chief Minister should pay more attention in setting his house in order rather than travelling abroad.

“The State Government has once again let down the State Police,” the UDP working president claimed.

Lyngdoh also conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families of the police personnel.

Nongthymmai legislator Jemino Mawthoh (UDP) said it was unfortunate that policemen were getting killed in this manner while performing their duties.
