BSF prevents smuggling bids along border

SHILLONG, Feb 21: In different operations on Tuesday, alert troops of BSF Meghalaya successfully foiled illegal smuggling attempts along the Indo-Bangla border leading to the confiscation of Phensedyl and sugar which were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh.
Vigilant troops of 172 Bn BSF Meghalaya, one being tipped about the illegal activity, seized a consignment of 200 bottles of Phensedyl cough syrup while they were being smuggled to Bangladesh through the border in East Jaintia Hills.
In another operation, BSF troops apprehended three Indian nationals along with over 6,800 kg of sugar seized from different bordering districts of Meghalaya. T
he confiscated Phensedyl and sugar were handed over to the respective Customs office and police station for further action.
