Lok Adalat
The office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi district in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority will organise a Lok Adalat at Ri Bhoi College, on November 25.
Seminar
- The English and Foreign Language University, Shillong will organise a three day International seminar on “Cultures of Memory: Mnemocultural Praxis in South, South East and Other Asian Countires from November 7-9. Chief guest for the inaugural function will be Governor Dr KK Paul which will be held on November 7 at 11 am at the multipurpose Hall, EFLU, Shillong campus.
- North East Cancer Hospital Institute and Research Institute will organise the second international cancer seminar on November 30 and December 1 Cancer specialists from different countries will deliver their talk during the seminar.
- The school of Social Sciences, College of PG Studies CAU, Umiam is organising a national seminar on Agri-business potential for north eastern states to be held at the college of PG Studies, Umiam on November 8 and 9 at 9.30am.
Concern raised
The Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Assembly has expressed its concern over the recent developments that has disrupted normal life and activities in the state.
Clarification
Regarding the news items which appeared in the daily on November 6 under the headlines, ‘NEEPCO staff face attempt to rape charge’, NEEPCO has clarified that one of the accused, Ram Singh is not an employee of NEEPCO. Three persons including two employees of NEEPCO attempted to rape a minor girl (10) at Thieddieng village under Mawsynram PS in East Khasi Hills on Sunday last.
