Workshop dives into digital initiatives in NE

SHILLONG, March 1: A workshop on the topic of ‘Digital Initiatives and its Effects: An empirical study in select areas of North-East India’ was organised by the Department of Sociology, NEHU, on Wednesday, with the sponsorship of ICSSR, New Delhi.
NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof PPS Shukla was the chief guest and President of Shillong Press Club, David Laitphlang was the guest of honour on the occasion.
A large number of students, research scholars, stakeholders and academicians participated in the workshop.
The day comprised two technical sessions that focused on the findings of the empirical study of four select states of the Northeast — Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura and Assam.
The workshop deliberated over a wide range of issues concerning the impact of digitalisation on institutions and establishments and the use of internet and its role in empowering women in rural areas.
The workshop ended with a valedictory programme in which certificates were distributed among the participants.
